Gas Prices around Athens, Ohio

Ever since I can remember, people have complained that gasoline prices around Athens are always higher than the surrounding areas.  The purpose of the information here is to graphically compare the gas prices in and around Athens with other areas.  A second purpose is that the graphs show the long-term trends in the prices.

The data are based on purchases that someone in my immediate family has made.  With five drivers constantly on the go and four vehicles, we are frequently filling up with gas.  The price listed is the cost in dollars for a gallon of unleaded gasoline.

These entries were started on March 31, 2006.  Older entries are being added as time permits.

Key to the gasoline purchases:

• --X  Athens: Purchased at a gas station within the City of Athens, Ohio
• --H  County: Purchased at a gas station within Athens County, OH (but outside of the City of Athens)
• --O  Other: Purchased at a gas station somewhere else
